The Quantum Opportunities Program (QOP) is the only program of its kind in the community. While there are programs in the schools served, QOP represents the only alternative outside of school.

QOP instills in the Associates the importance of staying in school and maintaining good grades. Staff encourages students to complete all homework and take an active role not only in QOP but also in their high school.

Staff visit the high schools on at least a weekly basis to meet with counselors and teachers. One staff member is dedicated to working with families, to encourage each parent in helping his/her child throughout high school.

QOP works with the associates to help them develop social skills that will facilitate entry into adulthood. Regular outings to cultural and entertainment events is part of the program, but must be earned by completion of homework and other tasks.

A major task of QOP is to instill in the associates the need to contribute to their community. They do this through work at a local food pantry and soup kitchen, work at a local nursing home, and in other ways.
